The Super Powers of Women in the Workplace

In a survey carried out by the Center for Creative Leadership in 20191, the results showed that a higher percentage of women in the workplace predicted:

  • More job satisfaction
  • More organizational dedication
  • More meaningful work, and
  • Less burnout

Why is that?

What do women bring into the workplace?

According to a survey conducted by the global consulting firm Hay Group, women surpass men in 11 of the 12 major emotional intelligence characteristics. "If more men performed like women in engaging their emotional and social competencies, they would be substantially and noticeably more effective in their work," says Richard E. Boyatzis, Ph.D., one of the study's developers and co-owners2.

Among the strengths women exhibit in the workplace3:

  • Resilience: Contrary to the belief that women crack under pressure, women have shown high levels of stability in the workplace. Probably due to women's need to juggle several priorities and adversities at home and in the workplace.
  • Building Trust: The ability of women to connect at deep levels allows for building trust among colleagues, employees, and team members.
  • Problem Solving: The ability to see problems or situations from a different perspective leads to solving a problem in a manner referred to as "out of the box." Women have had the mental agility to solve problems for a long time in history due to not having access to resources, whether for education, power, money, or even freedom. Therefore, they used to flex their mind muscles to work around things and find a solution to their needs.
  • Communication: Women are better at sending body language cues and signals as they communicate. They, therefore, respond better to emotional and verbal cues, making them better communicators.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Women's ability to build trust and communicate is harnessed and used even further with building teams. Women's ability to accept diversity and create harmony is a valuable tool for building teams and Collaboration.
  • Flexibility: Working mother's life is built around adaptability and flexibility. Therefore, it is an important aspect that women bring into the workplace.
  • Motivation: Women are nurturers by nature. They bring this nature into the workplace as they push others towards growth, helping employees excel and grow and be the best version of themselves.

Women are remarkable creatures. Digging the strengths they bring into the workplace, we can comprehend how multifaceted they are in whatever domain they are.
