Raising Awareness Regarding Leadership Style in the Great Resignation Era

“People leave managers, not companies”
- Marcus Buckingham

How Can We Retain Employees and Escape the Resignation Wave?

In DDI comprehensive 2019 study, they found a harsh truth1:
57 % of people quit their job to “get away from their manager at some point in their career.

As a result, the most common reason employees quit their job is a boss who did not possess the suitable leadership behaviors and skills.

Employees who left their employment voluntarily did so because of their managers, not because of their position, the work itself, or the pay. People will leave no matter how excellent a job they have if they do not have a solid relationship with their management.

Raise Awareness Regarding Impactful Leadership Styles

Companies have been and will continue to strive to retain employees. Otherwise, employees will continue to leave, causing high turnover to ruin loyalty, company brand, productivity, and morale.

The first aspect to look into is Leadership Style. As the saying goes “People do not leave companies, they leave managers.”

One of the most important surveys that would provide you with the needed support in the area of Leadership is the LIFO Leadership Styles Survey. The LIFO® approach to leadership development explains and offers practical strategies to help you develop greater effectiveness as a leader hence improving productivity and retention rates across your teams.

The LIFO Leadership approach and philosophy are based on discovering Your Leadership Style. There is no one “right” or “best” way to lead. Leaders are most effective when they tap into the unique mix of values, goals, and strengths that drive their best performance—and these are different for different people.

According to LIFO, there are Four Life Orientations that determine Four Leadership styles. Each style corresponds to a set of behaviors. Once we are of our style, thus our behavior we can therefore understand our impact as managers and work on improving ourselves.
