Simplify Your Life Professionally

As we are celebrating national "Simplify Your Life" week it’s important to examine the simplification of one of the main aspects of our lives: Professional Life. An approach that’s now used in the workplace is tackling your job through your main strengths. This helps us focus more on who we are and work on developing what we are already good at instead of wasting time and energy trying to become something we are not.

Maneuvering around the workplace is sometimes complicates. A lot is going on in the hustle and bustle of office politics, tasks to get done, meetings, handling cliques and, much more that require simplification to help us become more enthusiastic and focused. Here are some tips that help with simplifying life professionally.

Ten Tips To Simplify Your Work Life1

1.Determine Your Purpose at Work
Ask yourself what do you truly want to achieve? Are you in the right place? Are you in the right job? Ask yourself questions that help you focus on doing more of what you love instead of getting stuck in a job that you hate especially that we spend the majority of our lives working.

2.Know Your Strengths and Understand Them
As mentioned earlier, knowing your strengths and working with them and through them makes us more energized and help us focus our time and energy on what we are best at thus putting us in a FLOW state where we are working while feeling as if time is flying and creates a more fulfilling feeling and life

3.Start Early
Reaching the office a bit early gives you some time to focus and get some work done before the daily chatter starts.

4.Set Your Time Limit
Don’t rely on investing more time at work as this is counterproductive contrary to many people’s thoughts that more hours at work lead to more productivity. Instead, determine your number of hours. If it’s an 8 hour period, knowing that you’ve got those hours only, you will do your best during that window knowing that you are leaving when they are over. In addition, more hours at work mean less exercising, socializing and, less of what helps you relax and take a break.

5.Make Use of Automation and Technology
Use technology and automation whenever possible. Have people fill in forms automatically, minimize or eliminate paperwork saving up filing time, process payments automatically. Use electronic surveying mechanisms. Build up your knowledge of technology and applications which will free up some of your time.

6.Clear Your Desk
Do this in a few minutes in the morning, or by the end of the day. Everything goes in its place and everything has a place. You can 2also incorporate this in your daily routine doing it one more time midday and finally as you pack your stuff to leave by the end of the day.

7.Escape
Find a quiet place where you can escape and hide as you finish some important tasks away from the chaos and chatter. The more you can do this, the better as it will help you focus and get productive.

8.Stretch Often
Make sure that you get up from your desk, walk around, stretch yourself and do some deep breathing. This will help you revitalize, reduce stress, helps you refocus, and will prevent you from developing stiff neck and back problems.

9.Learn to Say “No”
Being a good and reliable teammate is important nowadays at work. Yet, taken to excess this can violate your schedule. You are the only one who can take charge of your time. Therefore, learn the balance between being a good teammate and saying “No” before you sabotage your schedule and time.

10.Work on Your Priorities
Everything at work might seem important. But, be careful: when everything is marked as a priority nothing becomes important. Hence, prioritizing what is most important in terms of urgency and value is of high importance, otherwise, a whole day might pass having you check 10 items off your list yet of low value!
Dropping by a colleague at work to catch up is not as important as finishing a sales quarterly report. Organize your priorities and make sure you work accordingly.

And finally, we can conclude that dimensions of life are multi-faceted. It’s like one big, continuously spinning wheel, and We are the center of it. We are the only ones who can decide when and how to pull the brakes, for if we don’t, we are subjecting ourselves to being run down. It’s all in our hands.

It takes some awareness, self-empowerment, and most importantly self-love. We need the conviction that We deserve to enjoy life. And, there couldn't be a better chance to make that decision and make the most out of it.
