Inviting Others for a Relaxing Holiday Using LIFO Styles

Want to jump on the summer wagon and sing along to the famous song. What if you want to plan a holiday with a key person?
The person is hesitant and does not share your enthusiasm about the holiday.  Let’s explore four ways to influence this person stylistically depending on their LIFO Style (The LIFO method is a practical application of behavioral science that provides strategies for promoting individual and group productivity.)

1. The Person is Supporting Giving
If the other person prefers Supporting Giving, then emphasize excellence and equity. You might say, “Let’s review our options together and select the best destination, one which will be a memorable experience for both of us.”

2. The Person is Controlling Taking
If the other person prefers Controlling Taking, then emphasize action and adventure. You could say, “I discovered three new and exciting destinations. All offer challenging outdoor activities. Which location do you prefer?”

3.The Person is Conserving Holding
If the other person prefers Conserving Holding, then focus on economy and efficiency. Consider saying, “Remember our holiday last year? I read about similar destinations with discounted prices. Let’s discuss the options after you review the information.”

4. The Person is Adapting Dealing
If the other person prefers Adapting Dealing, then emphasize eagerness and enthusiasm. You could say, “I like this popular destination. It offers endless opportunities to interact with people and make lots of new friends.”

Knowing you and your companions’ styles will help you tremendously as you approach life with a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
